Douglas Vernon Oakley, 66, of Mansfield passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 16, 2026 at home surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Ashland, Kentucky on December 20, 1959 to Jimmie F. and Betty (Evans) Oakley.
Douglas attended Mansfield City Schools. As a young man, he worked at Mansfield Cemetery. He was always a hard worker. Most of his working years were spent at RA Boor and K&D Industrial Services.
Douglas married the love of his life, Cassie Cole on December 20, 2011. He was a devoted family man who found great joy at family gatherings. Doug and Cassie never missed an opportunity for a road trip. On their many road trips they would take many spontaneous detours to experience new restaurants and destinations.
Douglas loved woodworking, carpentry, working in his garage, yardwork, traveling, music, and most of all making memories with his family.
He leaves behind his wife, Cassie Oakley; brother, Kenny (Lisa) Oakley; sisters-in-law, Sandra Stone, Sharon Brackett and Deborah Jamirson; one brother-in-law, William (Tabby) Jamirson; his son, Douglas (Lindi) Oakley; four bonus daughters, Amber (Andy) Bates, Dalice Stankiewicz, Destiny (Rob Stoneburner) Davidson and Cassie Cole; grandchildren, Tatum (Destiny) Coleman, Keegan Davidson, Cole Davidson, Mathias Stankiewicz, Kaydence (Payton Walters) Davidson, Pacer Cole, Natalie Yosick, Payton Hunt, Willow Ward and Rebecca Oakley.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his in-laws, Earnie and Irma Jamirson; sisters, Jeannie Berry and Sheila Mahon; brother-in-law, Richard Jamirson; sisters-in-law, Melba Hutton and Christine (Cricket) Wilson.
A celebration of life will be held on Friday May 22, 2026 from 1:00PM-3:00PM at Ohio Cremation & Memorial Society, 9 Chambers Rd., Mansfield, Ohio 44906. A closing prayer will be conducted by Pastor Joseph Curry of the Taylortown Community Church at 3:00PM.
