Dennis Ray Mills, age 78, of Mansfield, Ohio, passed away peacefully at home on May 16, 2026.
Born February 19, 1948, in Mansfield, Ohio, Dennis was the beloved son of Donald Eugene Mills and Doris Eileen Mills. He was known for his kindness, strong work ethic, sense of humor, generosity, and faith, touching the lives of many through his love for family and friends.
Dennis graduated from Madison High School in 1966 and went on to graduate from The Ohio State University in 1970. He proudly served in the National Guard from 1970 to 1976 and dedicated his professional career as an agronomist before retiring from The Ohio State University.
Dennis enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He loved fishing, attending Ohio State Buckeyes football games, and making lasting memories with those he loved most.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Judy Mills of Mansfield; daughter, Renee Derr of Newark; son, Andy (Miriam) Mills of Mansfield; grandchildren, Lucas and Lincoln; step-grandchildren, Naomi and Jackson; brother, Mark (Raejean) Mills of Walhonding; along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Donald Eugene Mills; his mother, Doris Eileen; and a step-grandson, David.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Bird Sanctuary. Dennis and Judy enjoyed spending many summer days there making memories with their grandchildren. Memorial contributions can also be made to Southern Care Hospice.
Dennis will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him.
