Mansfield: Shirley Ann Schuttera, age 96, lifelong resident of the Mansfield Washington area passed away Saturday, May 9, 2026 in Crystal Care Center.

She was born September 7, 1929 to the late Clarence and Marie (Lehnhart) Dillon and graduated from Madison High School. After high school, Shirley worked as an executive secretary downtown for several years. On November 19, 1948 she married John F. Schuttera in a double wedding ceremony alongside her sister Maxine to Dave Conner in St. John’s United Church of Christ. The couple had a daughter, Saundra, and shared 64 years before his passing in 2012.

Strong in her faith, she remained a long-time member of St. John United Church of Christ throughout her whole life and found joy in gospel music, especially the Gaither Brothers. In her prime Shirley and John loved roller skating and water skiing. At her home, she enjoyed keeping a small vegetable garden, but her passion was thrifting. Shirley had an eye for designer clothing and always dressed impeccably, her signature colors were black and white because they were perfect for any occasion. She enjoyed Sunday drives, vanilla ice cream and plain potato chips. Although stoic and private, Shirley was also quite feisty, strong when she needed to be and stubborn enough to make it on her own, living independently at her family home into her 90’s.

She is survived by her daughter Saundra Shears, grandchildren Marie (Paul ) Eicher, John (Jessica) Bidinger, and Anthony (Bethanie) Bidinger; eight great grandchildren that she cherished and loved to watch as they were doing fun activities together.

In addition to her parents and beloved husband, Shirley was preceded in death by her son-in-laws Edwin Shears and Randolph Bidinger, and sisters Maxine (David) Conner, and Margaret (Richard) Davies.

Friends may join the family for a graveside funeral service Thursday, May 14, 2026 at 11:30 am in Mansfield Cemetery. The funeral procession will meet at the cemetery gates at 11:20 am. The Rev. Faith Proietti will officiate. The Lexington Avenue Snyder Funeral Home is honored to serve the Schuttera family and encourage messages of support by visiting:www.snyderfuneralhomes.com
