SHELBY — A rugged girls softball tournament trail awaits top-seeded Shelby.

The Whippets (18-4) earned the No. 1 seed at Sunday’s Division III tournament draw and will host Ashland (5-10) in the sectional final at 5 p.m. May 14.

The winner will meet No. 4 seed Madison (10-9-1) at 4 p.m. May 21 in the Willard district semifinals. The Rams have won nine of their past 14 after dropping four-of-five to start the season.

Ontario (17-5) picked up the No. 2 seed and will host No. 6 Sandusky in a sectional final at 5 p.m. May 14.

Third-seeded Lexington (10-9) will host No. 5 Norwalk in a sectional final at 5 p.m. May 14.

Division IV

Clear Fork earned the No. 2 seed in the Division IV draw.

The Colts (17-5) will host No. 7 Vermilion for a sectional title at 5 p.m. May 13.

No. 6 seed Galion (6-16) will visit third-seeded Clyde for a sectional final game at 5 p.m. May 13.

Division V

Crestview (8-5) was chosen the No. 5 seed in the Division V draw. The Cougars will visit No. 4 Huron for a sectional final at 5 p.m. May 13.

Division VI

Mansfield Christian (9-5) earned the No. 6 seed in the Division VI draw. The Flames will visit No. 4 New London for a sectional final at 5 p.m. May 12.

Division VII

No. 5 seed Lucas (5-8) will host No. 6 Plymouth (1-16) in a sectional championship game at 5 p.m. May 15. 

No. 7 Crestline (3-10) will visit No. 3 Monroeville at 5 p.m. May 15 for a sectional final.
