Katy Hope Huff, 65, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, April 22, 2026, at her home. She was born on November 28, 1960, in Olive Hill, Kentucky, to Lester Middleton and Maymie Tabor Middleton Browning.
Katy was known as a strong, independent woman with a determined spirit and a touch of stubbornness that those who loved her came to admire. Beneath that strength was a generous heart—she would give you the shirt off her back without hesitation. Her kindness and willingness to help others left a lasting impression on all who knew her.
A faithful member of Paradise Church, Katy was affectionately known as the “Candy Lady” a title she earned by bringing bags of candy each week to share with the children and adults as well. Her faith was unwavering, and she stood boldly for her beliefs, serving as an example of devotion and conviction to her church family. She was actively involved in Matthew 25 Outreach, where she helped distribute food to those in need, always putting her faith into action. This ministry was especially close to Katy’s heart, as she saw firsthand the good it accomplished and the lives it touched.
Katy’s presence at church will be deeply missed—especially her heartfelt “Amen” and her faithful service in the kitchen whenever she was able to lend a hand. Her warmth, generosity, and spirited voice brought comfort and joy to many.
Outside of her church community, Katy found great joy in the companionship of her beloved pets. She adored her three dogs, Sam, Henry, and Cricket, as well as her cats, Butterscotch and Ms. Kitty, who were a constant source of comfort and love in her life.
Katy leaves behind a legacy of faith, generosity, and strength. She will be dearly missed by her church family, friends, and all who were blessed to know her.
Katy leaves behind her children, Terry L. (Ashlee) Ormes, Gary Reed Ormes and Jayson (Jacqui) Barber; her grandchildren, Christopher, Hannah, Brianna, and Daniel Ormes; her siblings, Nancy (Gilbert Sr.) Woods, Mary Hall, Theresa (Whylie) Middleton, Joyce (Art) Boyce, Delores (Reed) Middleton, Ruby Hess, Rosanna (Leroy) Stamper, and Laura Middleton, numerous nieces and nephews; and her church family and friends.
Katy was preceded in death by her parents; her husband who passed on January 7, 2017, Jerry Huff; her sister, Minnie (Densil) Hunt; and her brother-in-law, Luther Hall.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 am – 12:00 pm on Saturday, May 2, 2026, at Wappner Funeral Directors and Crematory-Ontario, 100 S. Lexington-Springmill Road. The funeral service will immediately follow at 12:00 pm with Pastor Jay Hill officiating.
