Philip “Poppi” Eugene Caudill, 75, passed away on Wednesday, April 22, 2026, at his home. He was born on February 26, 1951, in Marion, Ohio, to the late Chester Caudill and Audrey (Frazier) Stepp.

Philip attended Mayo Vocational School, where he trained in welding. After earning his certification, he devoted 15 years of hard work and dedication to his career at Galion Dresser.

Phil married the love of his life, Janet (Comer) Caudill, on July 7, 1969. Together, they shared 56 years of unwavering love, laughter, and cherished memories.

He found great happiness outdoors, where he felt most at peace. An avid deer and turkey hunter, Phil treasured the quiet stillness of early mornings in the woods. He also had a deep love for fishing, especially his trips to Lake Erie, where time on the water brought him both excitement and relaxation. Those fishing adventures became cherished memories not only for him, but for those fortunate enough to join him. He also gave back to his community as a youth Babe Ruth baseball coach, taking pride in mentoring young players and sharing his love of the game.

In addition to his love of hunting and fishing, Phil was passionate about raising pigeons, a hobby he dedicated himself to with great care and pride over the years.

Above all else, Phil’s greatest joy came from being with his family. Whether sharing stories, laughter, or simply enjoying each other’s presence, he created a lifetime of memories that will be held close by those who loved him. His warmth, steady presence, and love for the outdoors and his family will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.

Phil is survived by his beloved wife, Janet (Comer) Caudill; his children, Michelle (Ryan) Onie of Galion, and Joshua (Jessica) Caudill of Galion, his grandchildren, who were the best part of his life, Brandi (Jesse) Palmateer, Bobby Gilbert, Kayden Caudill, Karley Caudill, and Kylah Caudill, his great-grandchildren, Gavin Palmateer, Audra Palmateer, Raeleigh Palmateer, and Knox Dreamer. He is also survived by his siblings, Danny (Noela) Caudill of Orlando, Florida, and Sheila (Carl) Duncan of Willard; his sister-in-law, Phyllis Haynes of Pikeville, Kentucky; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Lynda Tweed; his sisters-in-law, JoAnn Coffey and Joyce Haley; and his uncles, James Frazier and Rev. Cecil Frazier, Sr.
