Patrick “Pat” D. Burns, age 65, passed away at his home on Wednesday, April 15, 2026.
Pat was born on April 3, 1961, in Mansfield, Ohio. Pat was one of seven children born to Thomas Sr. and Mary Hanrahan Burns. He was a 1979 graduate of Madison High School and carried with him throughout his life the values of hard work, humility, and kindness that defined his character.
Pat dedicated more than 20 years of his career to Reining Painters, where he earned a reputation as a meticulous and dependable craftsman. His pride in his work was evident in every project he touched, including his contribution to painting the grandstand at Mid-Ohio, a point of quiet accomplishment he held dear.
A longtime parishioner of St. Mary Parish in Mansfield, Pat found comfort and community in his faith. He was known by those who loved him as a devoted friend with a gentle spirit and a generous heart, always willing to lend a hand or share a kind word.
In his free time, Pat found joy in life’s simple pleasures. He loved spending time outdoors, often tinkering in his yard and keeping it in careful order. He had a special fondness for his beloved cat, Cletus, who was a constant companion. Pat also enjoyed painting small miniature houses, a hobby that reflected both his artistic touch and his attention to detail.
Pat will be remembered for his kindness, his quiet dedication, and the steady presence he provided for those around him. He leaves behind a legacy of friendship, craftsmanship, and warmth that will not be forgotten.
Pat is survived by his mother, Mary Burns; his siblings, David (Cheryl) Burns of Thornville, OH, Jeffrey Burns, Audrey (Rob) Metz, Christopher (Hegine Catalan) Burns all of Mansfield, Andrew (Kristin Thomas) Burns, of Richmond, VA and Thomas Burns Jr. of Mansfield.
He was preceded in death by his father, Thomas Burns, Sr., both sets of grandparents, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, May 1, 2026, 11:00 am at St. Mary Parish, 1630 Ashland Rd. A time of gathering will be held from 10:00 am to 11:00 am. Burial will follow at Mansfield Memorial Park. As St. Mary Parish is near and dear to his heart, please consider making a memorial contribution in honor of Pat.
