Michael Shawn “Mike” Perkins passed away on April 19, 2026, at Methodist Hospital in Omaha, Nebraska. Mike was born on April 8, 1950, in Mansfield, Ohio. He graduated from Mansfield Senior High School in 1968. Following graduation, he proudly enlisted in the United States Air Force, where he served for four years. After his honorable discharge, Mike made his home in Omaha, Nebraska, where he earned his bachelor’s degree in business finance.
Mike began his career with Northwestern Bell and later transferred to Denver, Colorado. Over the years, he continued his work with Qwest and several other companies until his retirement, eventually returning to Omaha. He will be remembered for his deep love of family and friends, his strong work ethic, and his great sense of humor. Mike had a lifelong passion for music and his many guitars, and he enjoyed playing in various bands throughout the years.
Mike is survived by his sister, Patricia Hunt of Mansfield, Ohio, Mark Haston (Rachelle) of Wahoo, Nebraska; and Paula Thompson of Mansfield, Ohio. He is also survived by his nieces and nephews: Kyle, Sean, Jennifer, Michelle, and Kevin, along with numerous great-nieces, great-nephews, extended family members, his good friend Pam Briggs, and his beloved cat, Wally.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Marjorie McKenzie Rauch; his stepfather, Gabriel Rauch; and his grandparents, Eli and Vestie McKenzie.
The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to the staff at Methodist Hospital in Omaha for their kind and compassionate care during this difficult time. In keeping with Mike’s wishes, no memorial services are planned.
