“For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Romans 8:38-39

With that enduring promise, the family of Steve Liming gives thanks for a life of faithful service and announces his passing on Good Friday, April 3, 2026, at his home with family. He was 79.

Steve was born September 25, 1946, in Columbus to Earl and Mary (Minton) Liming. He graduated from Grove City High School with the Class of 1964 and served in the Ohio Army Reserves. He answered the call to ministry that would shape the course of his life.

He first began preaching while at Kentucky Christian College at Dry Run Church of Christ and went on to serve congregations at Huntington Highlawn Church of Christ and Sciotoville Christian Church, where he worked as a youth minister. His preaching ministry continued at Kirkpatrick Church of Christ before moving in 1976 to Palmyra Church of Christ, where he faithfully served for nearly a decade. Steve later ministered at Lakeview Christian Church in Florida and spent three years serving as the Church Relations Director at Florida Christian College. He then served eight years at Lexington Church of Christ, investing deeply in that church family and community. Following a stroke, Steve continued his ministry at Open Arms Church of Christ in Mansfield for a couple of years, a testament to his perseverance and devotion. In later years, he served in Defiance Christian Church and at Southside Church of Christ, then, with Sharon’s failing health, moved home to Lexington and served part-time at Martinsburg Church of Christ and Jeromesville Church of Christ —completing 50 years in the ministry.

Steve loved his time on the golf course, not just for the game but for the people he shared it with—and he was even able to notch one of the hardest achievements in golf, twice, making a hole-in-one! He also enjoyed traveling and making memories along the way. At home, you could usually find him following his favorite teams, cheering on the Ohio State Buckeyes, keeping up with the Orlando Magic, and never missing a chance to watch Cleveland Indians baseball.

Steve was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He is survived by his wife, Sylvia Marie Liming; his children, Brian (Sue) Liming, Kimberly (Mike) Wetz, and Rachel ((Rony) Ruhl) Stull; his grandchildren, Deena (Troy) Mangrum, Christopher (Jenny) Liming, Dathan (Danielle) Liming, Jeffrey Funston, Chris Frisbee, and Hannah Lange; and his great-grandchildren, Tessa, Isabella, Mateo, Laurel, Maxwell, and Aaliyah. He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Elizabeth Liming.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Sharon Kay Liming; and his brother, Allen Liming.

Steve will be remembered for his steady faith, his servant’s heart, and the countless lives he touched through his preaching, teaching, and quiet encouragement. His legacy lives on in the churches he served, the family he loved, and the hope he so faithfully proclaimed.
The Liming family will receive friends on Thursday, April 9, from 4–7 p.m. at the Lexington Avenue Snyder Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held on Friday, April 10, at 11 a.m. at the Lexington Church of Christ, with Minister Brandon Bogue officiating. Burial will follow at Lexington Cemetery.
