Beverly Louella Wilcox

Beverly Louella Wilcox, age 88, passed away Thursday, April 2, 2026 at Ohio Health Mansfield hospital surrounded by her loving family.

Beverly was born on July 3, 1937, in Shelby, to the late Thornton and Faith (Miller) Hoak. She was a lifelong Shelby resident and graduated from Shelby High School in 1955. Beverly held a variety of positions throughout her life, including working at Mechanics Bank and First Knox. She also served as the manager of the snack bar and pro shop at Pebble Creek Golf Course for 13 years and later worked as a pharmacy technician at Drug Mart until her retirement in 2017.

Beverly was a member of the First Church of God (AWAKE Church) and had a great singing voice.  In her younger years, she enjoyed golfing, camping, and playing tennis.  Her beloved cat, Sammy, kept her company in her latter years.

Those who will cherish her memories include her two sons, Chris (Barb) Wilcox of Shelby, Todd (Beverly) Wilcox of Wellsville, Kansas; one daughter, Julie Cockley and friend Lawrence Wilson of Tiro, Ohio; two grandchildren Lara (Jeff) Foreman of Florida, Stacey (Arick) Burkepile of Ft. Lee, Virginia; great grandchildren, Aidan Ammons, Logan Burkepile, Cadence Burkepile, Walker Burkepile, Holdan Wilcox, Jordan Ammons, Blake, Owen and Jaxon Foreman.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, Robert L. Wilcox, whom she married on July 1, 1955; two brothers, Jack and Don Hoak and sister Betty Will; two grandsons, Jeremy Ammons and Andrew Wilcox; and a great grandson, Landan Burkepile.

Friends and Family may visit the Barkdull Funeral Home & Crematory in Shelby on Thursday, April 23, 2026 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Friday, April 24, 2026 starting at 11:00 AM with Pastor Rita Bullock officiating. Interment will be held at Oakland Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Beverly’s memory to AWAKE Church, 3616 OH-39, Shelby, OH 44875.
