Carmel L. Church, age 87, of Galion passed away Friday April 3, 2026 at Galion Avita Hospital.
Born January 29, 1939 in Grundy, VA, he was the son of the late Claud and Lacie (Thomas) Church. He married Helen Snyder on March 28, 1964 and she survives.
Carmel retired from Eagle Crusher after working there for 25 years. He enjoyed ginseng hunting, coon hunting, and fishing. He liked to watch his son Mark tend his garden and run demolition derby races. He loved his grandchildren and was a true friend to everyone.
In addition to his wife Helen, he is survived by his sons: Rick (Connie) Church and Mark Church, grandchildren: Brent Smith, Amber (Todd) Wireman, Chris (Sarah) Church, Bethany Church and Travis Streeter, seven great grandchildren, 6 great-great grandchildren, brothers: Clifford, Dave, Eugene, Dempsey and Darnell Church, and sisters: Sue Colley, Ida Baldwin, Karen Keen and Linda Schmidt.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son Scott Church, brothers: W.C., Don and Brady Church, sister Shelvy Duty and granddaughter Lacie Church.
The family will receive friends from 4:00 PM – 7:00 PM Wednesday April 8, 2026 at Richardson Davis Chapel of Snyder Funeral Homes, 218 South Market St., Galion, Ohio 44833 where services will be held at 11:00 Am Thursday April 9, 2026 with Pastor Ivan Wesley officiating. Burial will follow in Iberia Cemetery.
