Shirley A. Fagan, age 89, resident of Park Village, Shelby passed away Sunday, April 5, 2026 at Ohio Health Mansfield Hospital.
Born May 28, 1936, in Shelby to William and Mary (Arcudi) Sprague, she was a lifelong Shelby resident. She attended Shelby schools and worked as a waitress at Hal’s Drive-In, The Brass Rail, Wendy’s, and Crestwood Care Center. She was a devoted member of Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church, the VFW Ladies’ Auxiliary, and the Shelby Moose. Shirley had a special love for animals, especially her cats, who brought her great joy and companionship throughout the years. Above all, she cherished time spent with her great-grandchildren and enjoyed playing cards
She is survived by two sons, Ronald (Sherry Mosher) Fagan of Toledo, OH and Frederick (Cindy) Fagan of Canton, OH; one daughter, Karla (Pat) Hurrell, of Shelby; 10 grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; three brothers and spouses, Bill and Joyce Sprague of Crestline; Gary and Cathy Sprague of NC and Bob Sprague of TX; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Along with her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Junior L. Fagan in 1995; one daughter, Debra Clawson; two granddaughters, Trisha Fagan- Martinez, Veronica (Hurrell) Scheaffer; daughter-in-law Lisa Fagan; two brothers, James and Joe Sprague; and one sister, Rosemary Sprague.
Friends may visit at the Barkdull Funeral Home & Crematory in Shelby Thursday, April 9, 2026 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM. A funeral service will immediately follow at the funeral home at 12:00 PM. Father Chris Mileski will officiate with interment held at the Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Cemetery.
