Roy Eugene James Sr., of Mansfield, passed away peacefully on March 30, 2026, at the age of 91. He was born on June 10, 1934, to the late Carlton James and Mildred Carr. Roy grew up with a deep appreciation for the outdoors and carried that with him throughout his life. He especially enjoyed farming and spending time on his father’s farm, where many of his fondest memories were made.
Roy dedicated many years of hard work to his career before retiring from Galion Iron Works. He was known for his strong work ethic, quiet strength, and steady presence. He will be remembered for his love of the land, his commitment to his family, and the simple joys that brought him happiness.
He is survived by his daughter, Regina (Brett) Hildebrand; son, Roy James Jr., affectionately known as “Junior”; their mother, Judy A. Ritter; two grandchildren, Nicole (Billy) Harris and Gunnar Kirk; four great-grandchildren, Ryleigh, Regan, Remi, and Braxtyn.
In addition to his parents, Roy was preceded in death by his wife, Charlene; stepmother, Doris James and two sisters, Helen Kurtz and Martha Aberts.
Roy’s memory will be cherished by those who knew and loved him.
