SHELBY — The Richland Area Chamber & Economic Development has announced it is seeking a dynamic and strategic leader to serve as its next Economic and Community Development Director, a key role focused on advancing growth and investment in Shelby and Northern Richland County.
This position represents a unique opportunity to shape the future of the region by driving economic development initiatives, supporting business growth, and enhancing quality of place through community development strategies.
The Director will lead efforts in business attraction, retention, and expansion while supporting real estate development, housing initiatives, and long-term planning.
The role also serves as a central connector among municipal leaders, Community Improvement Corporations (CICs), developers, and regional partners to align priorities and catalyze meaningful investment.

Key responsibilities include:
- Managing economic development projects and site readiness efforts
- Supporting downtown development, housing strategies, and placemaking initiatives
- Building partnerships across public, private, and nonprofit sectors
- Representing the organization in regional economic development efforts
The ideal candidate will have experience in economic or community development, real estate development, planning, or a related field, along with strong project management and relationship-building skills.
