Joyce Kay “Kay” Campbell, 67, passed away Monday, March 30, 2026, at home, surrounded by the love of her family.

Born August 22, 1958, Kay was a proud graduate of Lexington High School, finishing her studies early with the same determination that would define her life. It was there, in those formative years, that she met the love of her life, Daniel E. Campbell. With a spirit as bold as it was devoted, Kay helped plan their future together, marrying Dan on November 24, 1975, at just 17 years old. Their early years were filled with adventure as they traveled across the United States, exploring wherever the road would take them before settling in Ohio and beginning the life they would build together. Over the course of 50½ years of marriage, theirs was a partnership marked by deep love, loyalty, and shared purpose.

Kay worked for a time at Tappan before embracing what she considered her most important role—caring for her home and family. A true “domestic engineer,” she took immense pride in keeping a home that was always immaculate and welcoming. She was an excellent cook, known for her perfectly prepared meals, especially her beloved sausage and sauerkraut every New Year’s Day—a tradition her family looked forward to each year.

Her green thumb was unmatched. Kay tended to a large garden that she carefully guarded and nurtured, canning the fruits of her labor to provide for her family year-round. Her yard was always perfectly manicured, a reflection of the pride she took in everything she touched. In the quieter winter months, she found comfort in books and staying informed on current events, enjoying a well-earned season of rest.

Kay also had a knack for finding treasures. She loved garage sales, “junking,” and antiquing, always on the lookout for something special—baby clothes for her grandchildren, baskets, tools for Dan, and especially her favorite: purses of every kind. From totes and clutches to crossbody bags and satchels, Kay delighted in her ever-growing collection.

Her favorite place to be was Siesta Key, where the sun, sand, and sound of the ocean brought her a special kind of peace and happiness.

More than anything, Kay cherished her family. She found her greatest joy in her grandchildren—planning sleepovers, preparing special meals and treats, and faithfully attending their school events and sporting activities. She loved shopping trips with her daughters, fondly remembered outings to the zoo when they were young, and treasured lunches together at Red Lobster. Kay had a gift for making life’s moments special, whether it was Christmas morning, prom preparations, or the beauty of a wedding day. She was the one who made it all happen, often placing her own needs last so others could feel loved and celebrated.

Known for her quick wit and sense of humor, Kay remained funny even in her final days. She was loving, selfless, and steadfast—at times stubborn and wonderfully blunt, but always genuine. A self-taught “tax guru,” she generously helped her entire family each year, often leaving her own taxes until the last minute.

Kay’s legacy is one of unwavering devotion—to her husband, her children, her grandchildren, and the home she so lovingly created. Her presence will be deeply missed, but the traditions she built and the love she gave so freely will continue to live on in all who knew her.

She is survived by her husband Daniel Campbell, daughters Angela (Jason) Murray and Amanda (Brad) Ritchie; grandchildren Nathaniel Murray, Kaitlynn Murray, Audriana Murray, Preston Ritchie, and Lance Ritchie; a great grandson Maverick; siblings Henry Britton, Debra (Ed) Secrist, and Ricky Britton; multiple nieces and nephews including Jamie (Darla) Britton, Kristina Bailey, Isaac Caudill, Justin (Brittany) Britton, and Blair Britton.

Kay was preceded in death by her mother Lousie Traxler in 2024.

Friends may call Saturday, April 4, 2026 from 12 pm to 1 pm in the Lexington Avenue Snyder Funeral Home where the funeral service will follow at 1 pm. Family friend Pastor Joe Piffer will officiate and burial will follow in Lexington Cemetery.
