Rose Ries, 88, of Mansfield, passed away peacefully Tuesday morning, March 31, 2026, at OhioHealth Mansfield Hospital. She was born on May 10, 1937, in Cervenka, Yugoslavia, to Adam and Margaret (Rephun) Neider, and came to the United States with her family at just 18 months old, where she would go on to build a life centered on faith, family, and service.
Rose was a member of the Apostolic Christian Church on Middle Bellville Road. She committed her life to Jesus Christ in April of 1967. She expressed her faith through prayer, cards of encouragement, and acts of service.
Gifted with creativity, Rose expressed her God-given talents through artistic crafting. She often shared these creations with others, reflecting her generous heart.
On December 25, 1956, she married the love of her life, Martin Ries, with whom she shared nearly seven decades of marriage. Together they built a loving family that remains her enduring legacy.
Rose will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She is survived by her husband, Martin; her daughter, Tonya (Paul) Getz of Mansfield; her son, Troy (Deborah) Ries of Queen Creek, Arizona; grandchildren Josh (Sheryl) Getz, Tyler (Katie) Getz, and Austin (Renee’) Getz, all of Mansfield, Dalton (Jessica) Ries and Devin (Ashley) Ries, both of Queen Creek; and 12 great-grandchildren and two more on the way.
She is also survived by her brother, Henry Neider of Mansfield; her brother-in-law, Fred Gerber; and her sister-in-law, Erika Schmidt. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Eileen Gerber; her brother-in-law, Horst Schmidt; and her sisters-in-law, Donna Neider and Theresa (Joe) Deni.
Family and friends will be received Friday, April 3, 2026, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Lexington Avenue Snyder Funeral Home, where her funeral service will follow at 1 p.m., officiated by Andrew Mueller and Eric Weingartner. Burial will follow in Mansfield Cemetery.
