Earl N. Hoover, age 66 years and 1 month, of Shelby, peacefully entered into rest on Thursday, March 26, 2026 following a battle with cancer.
Earl was born on February 26, 1960 in Denver, PA to John Jacob and Lydia (Newswanger) Hoover. Earl enjoyed farming and, even after retirement, continued to remain an active part of his sons’ farms until his illness. He was a member of the Springmill Old Order Mennonite Church.
On March 5, 1985 Earl married Elva (Zimmerman) Hoover and she survives along with their 5 children: Jennifer (Galen) Newswanger of Shiloh, Jacob (Susan) Hoover of Shelby, Joel (Rosene) Hoover of Plymouth, Joshua (Kathryn) Hoover of Shelby, and Jerrold (Carolyn) Hoover of Shelby; 17 grandchildren; his mother: Lydia Hoover of PA; brothers: Allen (Ruth) Hoover of OH, Warren (Luetta) Hoover of WI, and Mark (Loretta) Hoover of PA; sisters: Esther Hoover of PA, Ada (Ivan) Horning of PA, Elva (Eugene) Shirk of OH, and Lucy (Nelson) Martin of PA; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Earl was preceded in death by his father: John Jacob Hoover; grandson: Joash Hoover; and father-in-law and mother-in-law: Allen and Susie Zimmerman.
Family and friends are welcome on Tuesday, March 31, 2026 from 1-3 pm and 6-8 pm at the family home, 3560 Shelby Ganges Road, Shelby, OH 44875. Funeral services will be on Wednesday, April 1, 2026 9:30 am at Springmill Old Order Mennonite Church, 3555 Dininger Road, Plymouth, OH 44865 with Bishop Ammon Burkholder officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
