Fred Lamp, 86, passed away peacefully at home on March 22, 2026, surrounded by the comfort of the life he built and the family he cherished.

Born on June 30, 1939, Fred was the beloved son of the late Philipp and Rosalia Lamp. From an early age, he embodied the values of perseverance and dedication. He attended Johnny Appleseed School and later earned his GED while serving in the United States Army—an accomplishment that reflected both his determination and strong sense of duty.

Fred proudly served his country for 20 years in the U.S. Army, retiring as a Sergeant First Class. His military career included service in Vietnam, where he demonstrated courage, leadership, and unwavering commitment. In recognition of his exceptionally meritorious achievements, he was awarded the Bronze Star Medal and the Army Commendation Medal—honors that spoke to both his character and his service.

Outside of his military life, Fred was deeply connected to his faith and community. He was a member of the Apostolic Christian Church and enjoyed fellowship and friendship through the Mansfield Liederkranz Club. He was also a life member of AMVETS and a member of the VFW. In 2016, his pride in his home and community was recognized with a beautification award from the Men’s Garden Club, a testament to his care and attention to the world around him. Fred loved to throw dinner parties as he enjoyed cooking for those he loved.

He is survived by his wife, Carol Gibson Lamp; his daughter, Patricia Lamp; and his stepchildren, Barbara Senefeld and Michael Yurovich; nephews, David (Carol) Jung and Michael (Diane) Jung, great-nieces and nephews, Kayla Jung, Ryan (Kelly) Jung, Stefanie McIntosh, Brooke (Jon) Aldstadt, and Heather Andrews; great-great-nieces and nephews, Maverick, Anderson, Jackson, Jakob, Jaelyn, Jaycey, and Journey and step-grandchildren, Teeghan Doherty, Liza, Polina, Hannah, and Fiona Yurovich.

He was preceded in death by his son, Fred “Buddy” Stefan; his first wife, Heidi Roos Lamp; his second wife, Michelle Durkin Lamp; sister, Anna Jung; brother-in-law, Jakob Jung and nephew, Christian Jung.

Fred will be remembered as a man of quiet strength, steadfast loyalty, and deep love for those around him and his love of cooking and gardening. His life was marked by service—to his country, his community, and most importantly, his family. He leaves behind a legacy of integrity, kindness, and devotion that will not be forgotten.

The family will observe private services.
