Marilyn Ellen Romano passed away early Tuesday, March 24, 2026 in the comfort of her home surrounded by loved ones. Born May 14, 1931 in Mansfield, Ohio to William Ludwig Brandt and Evelyn Grace (Woods) Brandt; Marilyn is remembered for her vibrant personality, joy of card games, and keen sense of style.

Before marrying Joseph A. Romano in 1955, Marilyn was secretary for the President of The Tappan Stove Company. As a caregiver to her husband for 20 years and matriarch, she had a profound love for family, flowers, and her grandchildren’s activities. She was a member of the Catholic Women’s Club and volunteered her time for funeral luncheons with St. Peter’s Catholic Church.

Marilyn is survived by her three daughters, Kathy Stone, Laurie Romano, and Beth (Tim) Mulherin; brother, Charles (Carole) Brandt; grandchildren, Andrew (Kate) Ingram, Bryant (Megan) Ingram, Ellie Mulherin, and Anthony Mulherin; great-granddaughter, Harper Grace; as well as many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Romano; sister, Donna Hounshell; sisters-in-laws, Anna Delianides and Tootsie Hess; brother-in-laws, Paul Delianides, Al Hess, and Dale Hounshell; son-in-law, Eric Stone; and nephews, Paul and Anthony Delianides.

The family would like to thank Southern Care of Gentiva Hospice, specifically her care team Jen, Kaitlynn, and Tonya for their compassion and attentiveness they showed Marilyn in the last month.

Visitation will take place Thursday from 4-6pm at Herlihy Funeral Home, 173 Park Avenue West. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated 12:00pm Friday at St. Peter Catholic Church, 60 S. Mulberry. Burial will follow in Mansfield Catholic Cemetery.
