Donald J. Weaver, age 78, of Shelby, Ohio passed away on March 18, 2026 at OhioHealth Mansfield Hospital unexpectedly. On January 31, 1948 he was born in Shelby, Ohio the son of the late Joe and Dolores (Eberl) Weaver. He married Margaret A. Viers at Saint Mary’s Catholic Church and they shared 53 years together
Don was a Shelby resident his entire life and was a member of Saint Mary’s Catholic Church in Shelby. He had retired from Phillips Tube Group in Shelby. Don enjoyed repairing tractors, lawn mowers and other equipment for family and friends. He also loved spending time with and teaching all of his grandchildren how to fish. Especially spending time with River, (his flashlight) and ice cream buddy.
He had served in the Army during the Vietnam War and was a proud member of the 19th Corps of Engineers. He shared his pride of military service with granddaughter, Lexi.
What made Don unique was he never knew a stranger, especially a fellow veteran.
He is survived by his wife, Margaret; daughters, Julie (Ray) St. Clair and Kristi (Andy) Arnold; grandchildren, Lexi, Brook and Nick Arnold; great grandchild, River Arnold; brothers, Jerry (his twin) and Ed (Marion) Weaver; sister, Peggy Mowery; sisters in law, Barb Weaver, and Linda Weaver; his pet dog gizmo and numerous other family members
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Roger and Tim and sister, Sally Horner.
Memorial Mass will be held at 10:00 AM Friday, March 27, 2026 at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, 5741 State Route 61 Shelby, Ohio 44875. Father Jeffrey Smith will officiate and family and friends may call at the church from 9:00AM-10:00AM. Burial will follow in the Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Cemetery.
