Like a thief in the night, cancer stole the life of Karen Sue Patterson on March 12, 2026. She was 57.

She was born June 20, 1968 in Mansfield, Ohio to John and June (Raney) Patterson. Karen was a proud graduate of Northmor High School and devoted more than 40 years of faithful service to MT Business/Xerox. Karen also attended Palmyra Church of Christ, where she found encouragement in her faith and fellowship with others.

Karen found great happiness in life’s simple moments and the people she loved most. She enjoyed collecting stuffed animals, keychains, and matching teddy bears from each state she visited as small keepsakes that reflected her love of travel—especially the cherished trips she took with her family to Myrtle Beach. In quieter moments, Karen could often be found reading a good book, working on puzzles, or enjoying a friendly game of cards. Though she never had children of her own, Karen had a special place in her heart for her nieces and nephews, with whom she shared a close and loving bond, treasuring every moment spent together.

She is survived by her mother June Patterson, siblings Dean (Lori) Patterson, Diane Murray, Keith Patterson, and Brenda (Keith) Smith, nieces and nephews Brandon (Ashley) Patterson, Allen (Sarah) Patterson, Erika (Ethan) Begle, Emily (Zak) Smith, Justin Murray, Brandon (Mallory) Neyman, Karalee (Bryant) Hodge, Kameron (Rachel) Smith, and Kolton Smith, eleven great- nieces and nephews, as well as numerous extended family members.

Karen is preceded in death by her father John Patterson and her grandparents.
