Harold Malcolm Wies, Jr., age 95, of Butler, passed away Wednesday, March 11, 2026 in Ohio Health Mansfield Hospital. He was born to the late Harold M. Wies, Sr. and Clara Shankland Wies in Cedar Rapids, Iowa on July 11, 1930.
Harold or “Bud” as he was affectionately called was a dedicated engineer. He earned his B.S. in Engineering from Case Western Reserve University and spent nearly 40 years working as a quality control engineer working his way up to quality control manager. He married the love of his life, Sheila on August 24, 1952 and they shared 63 years of blessed and wonderful marriage until her passing on July 27, 2016. Harold and Sheila moved to Butler in 1971 and together they started the KOA campground.
In his spare time Bud enjoyed photography. He would photograph most anything to include all things nature such as birds and flowers. He was a former member of the Butler Lions Club and enjoyed camping at the family spot at the KOA near their home in Butler.
Harold will be greatly missed by his sons, Brad (Debra) Wies and Kevin Wies; his grandchildren, Alisha (Sam) Dean, Kevin Wies and Isaac Caudill. He also leaves behind one sister, Betty Smith. In addition to his parents and his wife Sheila, he was preceded in death by his grandson, James Bradley Wies.
A graveside service will be held at 1:00 pm, on Tuesday, March 17, 2026 in the Ashland Cemetery.
