TROY TOWNSHIP – An unidentified man sustained fatal injuries as a result of a one-vehicle crash on Monday night in Troy Township, according to the Mansfield Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
The incident took place at 10:14 p.m. on Gass Road between Lexington Ontario Road and State Route 97.
According to the Patrol, a 2019 Ford Mustang was heading south toward State Route 97 when the driver failed to maintain adequate control.
The vehicle crossed over the centerline, drove off the left side of the road, and struck several trees. The car came to rest on the roadside where it became engulfed in flames.
The male driver, whose identity remains under investigation, did not survive.
Gass Road was temporarily closed during the crash investigation with the assistance of the Lexington Police Department.
Lexington Police Department, Washington Township Fire and EMS, Troy Township Fire and EMS, the Richland County Coroner’s office, and Shelly Smith and Son’s Towing all assisted at the scene.
