Nadine Gae Shaum Deck, age 72, of Ashland Ohio passed away on March 8, 2026 at Crystal Care Center in Ashland Ohio. On June 7, 1953 she was born in Ashland the daughter of the late Donald E. Shaum and Evelyn M. Shaum (nee Schulte). She shared six years together with her life partner, Calvin Williams.
She graduated from Mapleton High School class of 1971. Nadine had worked at WNCO for four years, Perkins restaurant for five years and Archway Cookies for 43 years.
She was a member of the Nankin community Church and lived in Nankin, Ohio and Ashland, Ohio all of her life.
Nadine was an avid paper crafter, church goer and enjoyed her friends. She also loved when her grandchildren would visit. Her proudest achievements were her grandchildren, as they were her world. Nadine was known for her beautiful friendships and how her smile could brighten up the room and also her funny personality.
She is survived by her children, Jerry Felver (Amy), Amanda Dehaven, Billy Deck (Crystal) and Dawn Deck; grandchildren, Sarah Steele, Liam Blanton, Lucy Deck; great grandson, Elijah Steele; sister and brother-in-law, Diann Coffman (Steven) and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her life partner, Calvin Williams; her parents; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Marilyn & Phillip Stauffer and Elaine & Jim Puterbaugh and a great granddaughter, Jaylyn Steele.
The family would like to thank Ohio Cremation & Memorial Society for helping with the arrangements and Crystal Care Center for the care they provided Nadine.
A celebration of Nadine’s life will be held on Saturday, April 18, 2026 at the Nankin Community Church, 795 State Route 302, Ashland, Ohio 44805 at 11:00AM, Pastor Jared Smeltzer will officiate. Graveside services will follow in Nankin Cemetery.
