COLUMBUS — The Kokosing Construction Co. has offered a $100,000 reward for information that leads to the arrest of the driver who struck and killed one its workers on Feb. 28.

Jordan Thomas, 25, was killed in a hit-and-run accident on I-70 westbound near Ohio 315 at 2 a.m., according to Columbus police.

The driver that struck Thomas fled the scene westbound, police said.

Kokosing President John Householder offered the reward in a statement on Thursday. Kokosing is a third-generation, family-owned company that began in Fredericktown in 1951.

“Jordan Thomas was a beloved friend and valued team member of Kokosing Construction whose life was tragically cut short by a hit-and-run driver in our work zone,” Householder said.

“Jordan’s loss is deeply felt by everyone who knew him and our thoughts remain with his family, friends and co-workers during this incredibly difficult time.

“Nothing is more important than the safety and lives of our team members.”

According to police, the suspect vehicle was described as a Toyota Sedan manufactured between 2000-2009. It’s possibly maroon/burgundy/dark red in color.

Thomas, 25, was pronounced dead at the scene by medics at 2:12 a.m., according to police.

Detectives said the car was westbound on I-70 when it entered a construction zone and hit Thomas and a generator, according to police.

Detectives have not publicly identified a suspect. Columbus police encourage anyone with information about the vehicle or its driver to contact its crash investigation unit at 614-645-4767 or Central Ohio Crime Stoppers at 614-461-8477.

Householder said the reward is being offered in partnership with Central Ohio Crime Stoppers.

“Our goal is to deliver justice for Jordan, his family and our team,” he said.

“We ask the community to please share this information and help us hold the responsible individual accountable,” Householder said.
