VERMILION TOWNSHIP – Two men were killed after a single-vehicle crash early Friday morning in Vermilion Township, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
Rickey Morgan, 49, of Vermilion, and Robert Senn Jr., also of Vermilion, were both pronounced dead at the scene.
The Patrol stated in a press release that alcohol is a factor in the crash and that neither man was wearing a safety belt.
The incident took place on U.S. 6 near mile marker 25 in Vermilion Township of Erie County.
According to the Sandusky Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol, Morgan was driving a 2008 Honda Accord westbound on U.S. 6. Senn was a front seat passenger.
The Patrol reported that Morgan failed to negotiate a left-hand curve and drove off the right side of the roadway. He overcorrected, came back onto the roadway, then lost control and drove back off the right side of the road. The vehicle struck two signs before striking a tree and coming to final rest.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol was assisted on scene by the Erie County Sheriff’s Office, Vermilion Township Fire Department, Vermilion Police Department, LifeCare EMS, Riddle Funeral Home and Interstate Towing.
U.S. 6 was closed for approximately two hours and has since reopened.
