Betty J. Zartman, age 85 of Mansfield, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 20, 2026, at OhioHealth Mansfield Hospital. She was born on March 22, 1940, in Shelby to the late Charles and Mae (Stauffer) Shaffner, and she married the love of her life, Larry R. Zartman, in 1961.

Betty loved her family dearly. Her family looked forward to coming home for the holiday homecooked meals, games, and cards. Those events were so meaningful and enjoyed by all.
She was a member of First Christian Church, where she served as Elder, Diaconate, Greeter, Birthday Card Project Coordinator, and helped serve monthly breakfasts.

She was a 1958 graduate of Union Local High School. After high school, she had a 33-year career as Administrative Assistant for the family-owned Mansfield Screw Machine Products, Inc, in Lexington, Ohio.

After retirement, Betty traveled to Switzerland, Austria, France, Italy, and several states, including cruises to Alaska, the Hawaiian Islands, and the Caribbean Islands. She and Larry enjoyed traveling to Johns Island to visit their son Ron.

Betty was an advisor for the Lexington Super Stars 4-H Club, and she coached a Lexington Little League softball team. She bowled on leagues at Park Lanes, Village Lanes, and Lex Lanes. She also played golf on leagues at Little Apple Golf Course in Bellville.

She enjoyed playing euchre and pinochle with several friends.

She and Larry rode their bikes on the Richland-Mansfield Bicycle Trail for several years and exercised and worked out at the Mansfield YMCA.

She was preceded in death by her parents Charles and Mae Shaffner, her sister Nancy Basting, and her brother Merle Shaffner.

She is survived by her husband of 64 years Larry; her children Linda Zartman, Beverly Gibboney, and Ron Zartman; her grandchildren Ian Neruda, Katie (Jared) Hunt, and Grant Gibboney; and her great-grandson Austin Michael Hunt.

Betty will be laid to rest on Wednesday, February 25, 2026, at 10:00 am at Mansfield Memorial Park, where a graveside service will take place.
