Jean Kathryn Gurski (94) of Mansfield, Ohio, passed away peacefully Wednesday, February 18, 2026 surrounded by her family at Wedgewood Estates in Mansfield, Ohio. Jean was born March 8, 1931 in Monroe, Michigan to the late Andrew and Dorothy (Russow) Soleau.

She was deeply loved by her husband, children and grandchildren. Jean graduated from Saint Mary Academy in Monroe, MI, went on to train and work as a hospital x-ray technician in Michigan before moving to Mansfield in 1957 with her husband Walt. They soon thereafter started their family and Jean jumped in to being a full-time stay-at-home mom. She was a devoted homemaker, an active and cherished member of St. Peter’s Parish and School, volunteering for 50 years in the school cafeteria. Jean was an avid reader often found immersed in the pages of a good book, cross-stitch was a fond hobby of hers, she was always up for a game of cards, never missed her children’s and grandchildren’s sporting events, music concerts and theater performances, and stayed active with bowling well in to her 80’s. Jean enjoyed friendly rounds of golf with her pals, and she loved a summertime bike ride stopping to visit with neighbors along the way.

She is survived by her daughter Susan (Brad) Blank of Mansfield; son Michael (Cheryl) Gurski of Mansfield; son James (Susan) Gurski of Cincinnati; grandchildren Zachary and Zoe Blank, Jacob and Elias Gurski, Elizabeth and Kathryn Gurski; brother Douglas (Robin) Soleau of Jackson, MI. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Walter Gurski and sister Carol Parer.

The family will receive guests from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 24 at St. Peter Catholic Church, 60 S. Mulberry Street, Mansfield, Ohio. A funeral mass will follow at 11:00 a.m. at St. Peter Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Mansfield Catholic Cemetery.

The family would like to thank the staff of Wedgewood Estates and SouthernCare Hospice Services for their care and compassion during Jean’s illness.
