MANSFIELD — Join Richland County Transit (RCT) and transit agencies around the state in celebrating Ohio Loves Transit Day and Week.

RCT is offering FREE rides for Ohio Loves Transit Day, Tuesday, Feb. 17.  All nine fixed routes and Dial A Ride paratransit services are free for the day.

Throughout Ohio Loves Transit Week, which runs Feb. 16 to 20, RCT will host a selfie station at the Transit Center (74 S. Diamond St.) where passengers can take a photo and tag #OLTRCT on Facebook for a chance to win daily prizes.

Dial A Ride passengers can enter the Why I Love Dial A Ride contest for a chance to win prizes.  Plus, RCT will randomly give out swag to passengers all week.

During Ohio Loves Transit week, RCT will host rides with elected officials to showcase local transit services.  Area Agency on Aging’s Mobility Manager will also celebrate Ohio Loves Transit week with a free RCT ride for seniors on Feb. 17 at 1p, leaving from the Hawkins Center (2131 Park Avenue West).

RCT provides safe and efficient service Monday through Friday 6 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., depending on the route. Fixed routes and Dial A Ride ADA paratransit services are available throughout Mansfield and portions of Ontario and Madison Twp.

During Ohio Loves Transit Week, Ohio transit agencies highlight their impact in the communities they serve.

Transit agencies like RCT keep communities moving, connecting friends and neighbors to essential jobs, medical appointments, education, shopping and more. Last year, RCT provided roughly 125,000 trips, transporting local workers, students, patients and patrons.

Statewide Ohio’s transit agencies provide over 59 million trips each year.

Every segment of Ohio – businesses, communities, individuals and families – benefit from public transportation, an essential service that enhances economic development, insures sustainable lifestyles and a higher quality of life.
