MANSFIELD — Mansfield Christian’s pursuit of a Mid-Buckeye Conference title hit a major roadblock Friday.
Drew Badetücher and Ruben Carr scored 19 points apiece as Kidron Central Christian rumbled to a resounding 75-41 win at The Furnace.
The Comets (13-5, 6-1) moved into sole possession of first place with one conference game remaining. The Flames (9-7, 5-2) won the first meeting in Kidron, but will need help to earn a share of the MBC title.
KCC led 17-12 after the first quarter and 39-22 at the half. Any thoughts MCS had of a second-half comeback were erased in the third period as the Comets outscored the Flames 28-14 for a 67-36 lead going to the final frame.
Bryan Martin backed Badertscher and Carr with 12 points. Preston Clark added 11.
Landin Cyphers led Mansfield Christian with 11. Bryson Winemiller added eight, while Josiah Schleusener and Blayne Morrow each scored seven.
