PAINT TOWNSHIP — A Dalton woman was killed Friday morning after a two-vehicle crash in Wayne County, according to the Wooster Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
Ina M. Wengerd, 30, died as a result of the accident, the Patrol reported. Wengerd was wearing her safety belt at the time of the collision.
The incident took place at around 7:36 a.m. on State Route 241, north of Mount Eaton near milepost 4 in Paint Township
The preliminary investigation shows that a dark blue 2012 Chevrolet Cruze, driven by Wengerd, was traveling southbound on State Route 241 when the driver lost control rounding a slight curve. The Chevrolet Cruze then traveled left of center and was struck by a 2007 Ford EC3 Van which was traveling northbound.
Both vehicles traveled off the east side of the roadway and came to rest in the ditch line.
The driver of the Ford EC3 Van, Zeferino Navarro Vasquez, 27 years old, of Canton, was also wearing his safety belt and was not injured, the Patrol reported.
Assisting on scene were the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office, Paint Township Fire and EMS, the Wayne County Coroner’s Office, and Star American Towing.
The crash remains under investigation.
