MANSFIELD — The annual Pancake supper, First Congregational Church, Mansfield, will benefit Kate Schuller Dettmer who is in a fight for her life.
After remission, her cancer has returned and spread. We would certainly appreciate any kind of article or attention to this benefit.
What: Annual Pancake Supper
Where: 1st Congregational Church, Blymyer Hall, 640 Millsboro Road.
When: Fat Tuesday, Feb 17, 4:30 to 7 p.m.
All you can eat! By donation.
Because: this is a benefit event for Kate Schuller Dettmer who has had a reoccurrence of her ovarian cancer. Expensive experimental treatment is her only option at this point.
I’ve included further information about Kate for news release:
Kate Schuller-Dettmer has had a recurrence of her Stage III Cervical cancer. She was in remission from March- August 2025 but now the cancer has spread throughout her body. Further treatment options are limited; she is eligible for experimental treatments which are expensive and not covered by insurance.
The proceeds of the pancake supper will benefit Kate and allow her to take part in these treatments. Without the benefit of experimental treatment, Kate has a low probability of a positive outcome.
Kate is a 2006 graduate of Ontario High School. She is a licensed social worker and is currently the Director of Housing at Abode Services, an agency that provides permanent housing for the unsheltered.
She is a military spouse married to Andy Dettmer, serving active duty in the US Coast Guard. They have three children, ages 10, 7 and 3.
Kate is the daughter of Richard and Susan Schuller, members of 1st Congregational Church.
