Christos “Chris” Nikolaos Romas, age 78, of Mansfield passed away at OhioHealth Riverside Monday, February 2, 2026.
He was born April 12, 1947, in Meliti, Greece, and was the son of Nikolaos and Maria Romas. Chris married Helen Angelou and this July 22 would have been their 53rd wedding anniversary.
Chris was a dedicated and hard-working individual, who spent 26 years at Artesian/Crane Plumbing and 17 years in the Maintenance Department at Wal-Mart, where he was known for his remarkable work ethic, his skill in problem-solving, and his ability to fix just about anything. He had an unyielding passion for tinkering with machines, always finding joy in making things work again, whether at work or at home.
Outside of his professional life, Chris was a devoted family man. He was always providing for his family and was there for them in both big and small ways, offering love, support, and guidance. His interests included fishing, gardening, and watching boxing and wrestling—hobbies that brought him peace and joy.
Chris’s legacy is one of hard work, dedication, and love. He leaves behind a family who will forever cherish the memories of his kindness, strength, and the warmth he brought into their lives.
He is survived by his wife Helen Romas; two sons, Nick Romas and Angelo Romas; sisters, Ifigenia (Theodore) Antoniou and Flora (Dimitrious) Giavasoglou; and several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents; son, Konstantin Romas; and sister, Magdalene (Chris).
The family will receive friends on Thursday, February 5, 2026, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at Sts. Helen and Constantine Greek Orthodox Church, 265 West Third Street, Mansfield, OH 44903. The funeral service will follow at 11:00 am with Rev. Fr. Michael Ellis officiating. Burial will follow at Mansfield Cemetery.
