MANSFIELD — The adult karate program at the Music Academy of Karate and Empowerment recently celebrated an exciting milestone as several students were recognized for dedication and progress.

Earning their yellow belts were Trinity Potts, Heather Mann, and Sonja Gottschling. This promotion represents the successful completion of foundational skills, including basic stances, blocks, strikes, and an understanding of karate principles such as discipline, respect, and perseverance.

In addition, Bailey Mann, Zoe Mann, and Justin Michael Todd each earned two stripes on their orange belts, reflecting continued growth in both technical ability and personal commitment. Their progress highlights the importance of consistency and effort in long-term development.

Karate has a powerful and positive impact on adult life. Beyond physical fitness—improving strength, flexibility, coordination, and cardiovascular health—karate provides significant mental and emotional benefits. Adult students often report increased confidence, reduced stress, sharper focus, and a stronger sense of self-discipline. The structured environment of the dojo offers a productive outlet for daily pressures while fostering a supportive community of peers.

At MAKE, adult students are not only learning self-defense; they are building healthier habits, setting personal goals, and rediscovering the value of lifelong learning. These recent promotions are a reflection of that journey—proof that growth, achievement, and empowerment have no age limit.

The Music Academy of Karate and Empowerment offers adult karate classes on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday at 7:00 at 44 W. 4th St. in the Carousel District of Downtown Mansfield.
