Suzanne Helen Guehring-Maurer, 81, of Mansfield, passed away Saturday, January 24, 2026, at her home.
She was born January 1, 1945, in St. Louis, Missouri to the late George and Alice Guehring. Suzanne was known for her kind, caring, and generous demeanor.
She was multilingual and extremely intelligent. A graduate of Ashland University and Bowling Green, she graduated with three master’s degrees. Her teaching career spanned 45 years, and she taught at Mansfield St. Peter’s, Shelby, and Mansfield City Schools. Suzanne was a conscientious teacher and would do anything to help her students.
Her hobbies included archeology, science, reading, and continually learning. She was a member of the Star Trek Club. She was also a substitute teacher and worked in most school districts in the area.
She is survived by her son, Darrell Maurer; her daughter, Victoria Brai; grandchildren, Reva (John) Stollings, David John “DJ”, and Marie (Kyle) Mansfield; great-grandchildren, Sophiah, Carson, Hunter, Logan, and one on the way.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of nearly 50 years, John L. Maurer.
Family and friends are invited to visitation on Friday, January 30, 2026, from 4:00-7:00PM at Wappner Funeral Directors, 98 S. Diamond Street, Mansfield, OH 44902.
