Carol J. Holtshouse was born at Bucyrus Community Hospital to Carl and Virginia Volkmer of Broken Sword, Ohio. She graduated from (now historic) Lyken’s High School in Crawford County in 1961 and later also graduated from Marion Beauty Academy, though she never went on to practice that trade. Carol married Ronald W. Holtshouse of New Winchester, Ohio, on April 24, 1964. Together they had three children: Leslie Anne, Douglas Alan, who was born and passed away in 1972 and Natasha Marie. Carol was preceded in death by her parents; her aunt, Wanda Kershner of Marblehead; and her infant son.

Carol worked outside the home for many years, including positions with Swan Rubber Company in Bucyrus, Ohio; Smile Dental Care in Galion, Ohio; and Keller, Zeisler & Murphy Law Offices in Galion. She was also co-owner and business manager of Ron’s Magnavox in Galion.

Carol was an active member of First United Methodist Church of Galion (now Christ Covenant Global Methodist Church), where she enjoyed many years participating in both the bell and vocal choirs and as a member of Deborah Circle.

She is survived by her brother, Larry Volkmer of Bucyrus; her husband, Ron Holtshouse of Galion; her daughters, Leslie Copp of Loveland, Ohio, and Natasha Campbell of Mt. Juliet, Tennessee; and her four grandchildren, Lilly (23) and Sawyer (20) Copp, and Evan (16) and Roxy (14) Campbell.

Carol was a 40-year survivor of multiple sclerosis and, despite the adversity she faced, was always the brightest light in any room. She delighted in sharing silly jokes, self-deprecating humor, and the current antics of her life, bringing smiles to everyone around her. She loved her husband and family above all else and took every opportunity to tell them so.

Carol may have lost her battle with MS, but she unquestionably won at life through the countless people she loved and who loved her in return. She was surrounded by her family at the time of her passing and left this world peacefully. Carol will be dearly missed by all of us who knew and loved her as a wife, mother, grandmother, niece, sister, aunt, neighbor, and friend.

A celebration of life will be held at 1:00 PM Saturday February 14, 2026 at Richardson Davis Chapel of Snyder Funeral Homes, 218 South Market St., Galion, Ohio 44833 with Pastor Chris Bell officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Carol’s memory to the National MS Society or to Christ Covenant Global Methodist Church in Galion, Ohio.

Carol’s ashes will be laid to rest at a later time at Fairview Cemetery in Galion, Ohio, during a small, private, graveside ceremony.
