Sandra L. (Bauer) Thomas, 79, of New London and formerly of Mansfield, passed away on Monday, January 19, 2026 while in the care of The Laurels of New London. Sandra was born September 12, 1946 in Mansfield to the late Henry W. and Mildred M. (Simms) Bauer.
She was a 1964 Mansfield Senior High School graduate and worked at Dairyland, which is where she met her husband James whom she married on March 20, 1966. Together with her husband, they owned and operated the B & W Carryout for 12 years. She also worked several jobs one of her favorites being at Camp Mowana. She was a former member of St. Timothy Lutheran Church where she was in charge of the Alter Guild. Sandra enjoyed cooking, gardening, canning, playing cards, and taking beach trips to North Carolina. She especially loved spending time with her family and watching the grandkids play sports.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughter Denise (Michael) Thompson of New London; her granddaughter Kailee (David) Martin; her great-grandson Samuel Martin; her sister Kay (Lawrence) Schlett; her brother-in-law David Thomas; her sisters-in-law Bobbie Thomas and Melinda Thomas; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Along with her husband, James R. Thomas in 2022, Sandra was preceded in death by her parents Mildred and Henry Bauer; her daughter Kimberly Thomas; her in-laws Earl Thomas and Doris (Reeder) Thomas Rupanovic; her brothers-in-law, Michael Thomas and Danny Thomas; and her sister-in-law Nancy Thomas.
The family would like to thank the entire staff at The Laurels of New London for the love and kindness that was given to Sandra during the three years that she was there. They would also like to thank Southern Care Hospice for the compassionate care that was given to Sandra.

Calling hours will be from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Saturday, January 31, 2026 at Werner-Gompf Funeral Services, ltd., 1106 Park Avenue East, Mansfield, OH 44905. Funeral services will follow at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Mansfield Memorial Park at a later date.
