Robert “Bob” John Petruna Sr., age 79, of Brunswick, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 6, 2026, at the Cleveland Clinic.
Bob was born on November 20, 1946, in Cleveland, Ohio, one of four children born to Michael and Josephine (Bunyak) Petruna. He was a proud graduate of John Marshall High School.
Bob built a strong work ethic early in life. He was a journeyman Tool and Die maker, employed at various steel factories throughout his career. Always willing to work and stay active, he later obtained his real estate license and spent nearly 40 years delivering newspapers for The Plain Dealer. In later years, Bob enjoyed the hustle and bustle of working for DoorDash, embracing the opportunity to stay busy.
Bob married the love of his life on June 26, 1974, Sharon L. (Carl) Petruna, and they shared for 43 years together, until her passing. Their marriage was the foundation of his life and family.
A sports fan, Bob loved Cleveland sports and was a devoted supporter of The Ohio State Buckeyes. Nothing brought “Pops” more joy than attending his grandchildren’s sporting events, where he could proudly cheer them on from the stands.
Bob also loved to travel, exploring destinations all across the United States and beyond. Most recently, he fulfilled a memorable trip to Iceland, a journey he greatly cherished.
His presence will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his children, Robert (Karyn) Petruna Jr., Pamela Berk, Dee Roland, Steve Estvanic, and Mike (Carol) Estvanic; his son-in-law, Denny Huff; his grandchildren, Madison Huff, Faith (Jarred) Fisher, Joseph Petruna, Phoebe Berk, Max Roland, Jake Roland, and Isaac Roland; his siblings, Rose Banner of Bulverde, TX and Kathleen “Kathy” Amtsberg of Litchfield, OH; and many nieces and nephews.
