Sarah Ann Roepke, 88, died Friday afternoon, January 2, 2026, at Brethren Care Village, Ashland, Ohio. Ann was born February 4, 1937 in Mansfield, Richland County, Ohio to Woodrow and Rosalie (Haas) Gibson.

Ann graduated from Mansfield Senior High School. She worked at Mansfield Lumber in accounts receivable (where she met Marvin); Sears in auditing, and at WNCO radio.

Ann married Marvin A. Roepke on May 16, 1955. Her top priority was always her family. She supported her husband, children, and grandchildren in everything they did.

Ann was a member of Christ United Methodist Church in Ashland, where she was a member of various committees, served as a Stephen’s Minister, and was a Parish Visitor. She was a Companion for Hospice of North Central Ohio in Ashland. She was a life member of Garden Clubs of Ohio, the National Council of Garden Clubs, and a Master Flower Show Judge.

Ann was preceded in death by her parents; husband; infant grandson, Zachary Paul Roepke; sister and brother-in-law, Wanda Jean (Gibson) and Richard M. Vogus; and brother and sister-in-law, Michael L. and Barbara J. (Au) Gibson.

She is survived by daughter and son-in-law, Susan Dorothea and Thomas Cardille; son, James Marvin Roepke and Pam Reynolds; son and daughter-in-law, Stephen Allen and Tena (Knowlton) Roepke; six grandchildren, Amanda Lee Gerwig, Larissa Sue Gerwig, Andrew James Roepke, Colten James Roepke, Rachel Lynne Roepke, Mark Allen Roepke, Benjamin Reynolds, and Emma Thompson; several great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 10, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. in the Denbow-Gasche Funeral Home with Reverend Tom Snyder presiding. Following the service a meal and time of fellowship will be held in the Legacy Room at the funeral home. Family and friends may visit one hour prior to the service from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, her family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Ashland County Cancer Association, 1200 East Main Ashland, OH 44805; Hospice of North Central Ohio, 1050 Dauch Drive, Ashland, OH 44805; or to the Christ United Methodist Church Memorial Fund.
