IBERIA — The two teenagers involved in a fatal car accident on Wednesday afternoon have been identified as Northmor High School students.

According to a social media post Thursday afternoon by Northmor Local School District Supt. Chad Redmon, the 14-year-old who died in the Morrow County Road 59 accident was freshman Bobby Singh.

The 16-year-old driver, hospitalized in OhioHealth Mansfield Hospital after the accident, is junior Landon Bishop, Redmon stated.

In a Facebook message to district families, Redmon said, “Our thoughts, prayers and most sincere condolences are with the families and loved ones of the students during this incredibly difficult time.”

“We understand that this news may be overwhelming and distressing for our students, families, and staff. In light of this, we want to assure you that we have a support system in place to help our students navigate through their feelings and emotions. Our school social worker, school counselors, and grief counselors will be available to provide guidance, a listening ear, and a safe space for students and staff who may want to talk about their thoughts or concerns,” Redmon said in the post.

“If your child feels the need to talk, please encourage them to reach out to our social worker, school counselors, grief counselors or any trusted adult within our community as school is set to resume for the student body on Tuesday, January 6, 2026. During these moments of sorrow, it’s important that we come together to support one another. We will be working closely with students and staff to provide support and assistance during this time,” he said.

“Please keep the affected families and our entire school community in your thoughts and prayers. We will continue to provide updates as necessary, and we are here to support you in any way we can,” the superintendent said.

The Mount Gilead Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol said the accident occurred near Morrow County Road 56 in Congress Township at 2:53 p.m. In an emailed press release Thursday morning, troopers did not identify the two teens.

The patrol said the 16-year-old, with a Galion mailing address, was driving eastbound, operating a 1999 Ford Ranger. He reportedly drove off the left side of the road and struck a tree, according to troopers.

The only passenger in the vehicle, a 14-year-old male who troopers said had a Bellville address, was pronounced dead at the scene by Morrow County EMS.

Bishop was transported to OhioHealth Mansfield Hospital by Morrow County EMS.

Both teenagers were wearing their seatbelts at the time of the crash, troopers said.
