Tex R. Mobley, 82 of Ashland passed early Wednesday morning, December 24, 2025 at the James Cancer Center in Columbus, Ohio.

He was born on May 28, 1943 in Gimalin, Kentucky, the son of the late Ernest and Faye (nee Cox) Mobley.

Tex graduated from Ecorse High School, Class of 1962. He furthered his education, earning a bachelor’s degree from Western Michigan University and his master’s degree from Ashland University. Tex also earned a degree in welding from Hobart Institute of Welding Technology in Troy, Ohio.

He married the love of his life, the former Alberta Mae Saffin on June 12, 1976.

Tex retired after more than 35 years as a welding instructor at Ashland County West Holmes Career Center in 2003.

Throughout his life, he bred, raised and showed Tennessee Walking Horses. He enjoyed leather work and shooting sporting clays and loading his ammunition. Tex was an accomplished muzzle loader enthusiast earning him five state championships. Most of all he loved spending quality time at home with his wife, Alberta Mae.

He is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Mrs. Alberta Mae Mobley of Ashland; his seven siblings, Bonnie Pounds of New Boston, Michigan, Larrie (Marion) Mobley of Lincoln Park, Michigan, Ernest (Beverly) Mobley of Farmington, Michigan, Donald Mobley of New Boston, Michigan, Debbie (Dennis) Long of Smith Grove, Kentucky, Doris (Eric) Evans of Milford, Michigan, and Todd Mobley of Melville, Michigan; one sister-in-law, Sue Ellen Mobley of Michigan; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Tex is preceded in death by five siblings, Dale “Gary”, Kevin, Greg, Dennis, and Donna Mobley.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 3, 2026 at 12:00 p.m. in the Grace Church with Reverend Dan Allan presiding. Friends and family may visit one hour prior to the service from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the church.
