Mansfield: Deloris A. Kurtz, age 88, of Mansfield passed away Saturday morning December 13, 2025 in OhioHealth Mansfield Hospital.

She was born May 2, 1937 in Mansfield to the late Kenneth and Edith (Lowry) Hostler and graduated from Loudonville High School in 1955. After high school she attended Samaritan Hospital School of nursing and graduated in 1958. Deloris worked as a registered nurse for 20 years at Mansfield Family Practice with Dr. Weston, retiring in 1998. It was a special blessing that Dr. Weston was able to be with her before her passing. During her career, Deloris also was proud to serve six years in the missionary field in Beverly, Kentucky.

She met Thomas Kurtz on a blind date, and on April 15, 1972 they were married. The couple celebrated 49 years before he passed away in 2021.

Deloris was a long-time member of Diamond Hills Baptist Church where she taught youth Bible school and women’s Bible study, along with filling various other leadership roles. She was proud to have volunteered her time and talents at Richland Pregnancy Services. Along with Tom, Deloris enjoyed craft fairs and shows. They combined their hobbies, Tom’s woodworking and her painting, spending time with one another. She had a fascination with genealogy projects. Both she and Tom held a special place in their hearts for their nieces and nephews and enjoyed the company of young people and children. Kids naturally gravitated to Deloris and she extended great patience and enthusiasm teaching and playing alongside them.

Described as independent, smart, courageous and dignified, one of Deloris’ life verses was Proverbs 3: 5-6 “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and he will make your paths straight”.

She is survived by her brother and sister-in-law Robert and Betty Hostler, nieces Roberta and Craig Young, and Betsy and Brent Moore, great nephews Nathan and Jackie Moore and Andrew and Courtney Moore and great great nieces and nephews Aiden, Addison, Rayna, and Kalyn; sisters-in-law Bertha Partin, and Clara Mae Partin along with numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.

In addition to her parents and husband Tom, she was preceded in death by in-laws Dorlene and Bill Van Wagner, Thomas Partin, and Fred Partin.
