Frederick Michael “Fred” Grimmer, age 64, of Shelby, died early Friday morning, December 5, 2025, at OhioHealth Mansfield Hospital following an extended illness.
Fred was born on November 24, 1961, in Seville, Spain. Growing up in Shelby, he graduated from Shelby High School in 1980. Fred loved to work, often putting in as much overtime as he could. He was employed at both Myers Pumps in Ashland and Hi-Stat Manufacturing in Lexington, from where he eventually retired.
In his free time, Fred enjoyed fishing, working with RC cars, and collecting guns. He had a deep love for animals—especially his pet bearded dragons and his mom’s dog, Baby. Throughout his life, Fred also had a special affinity for Harley-Davidson motorcycles and Trans Ams. He especially loved socializing with his family and friends. Fred was known for helping others and had a generous and giving heart.
Fred is survived by his beloved mother, Maria Luz “Luci” (Riaño-Paniagua) Grimmer; his son, Brandon Michael Grimmer; his sisters, Luz (David) Reiman and Sara Wooldridge; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, David Michael Grimmer; brother-in-law, Mark Wooldridge; nephew, Brandon Bays; and great-niece, Lillian Bays.
It was Fred’s wish that calling hours and funeral services not be observed. Care for Fred and his family is being provided by the Penwell Funeral Home, 168 West Main Street, Shelby.
