LUCAS: Paul A. Griffey, 74, of Lucas, passed away, Friday evening November 21, 2025, at home following a valiant battle with cancer.
Born July 7, 1951 in Olive Hill, Kentucky, Paul graduated from Olive Hill High School.
On October 23, 1971 he married Bernadine “Bernie” Shay, where the two lived in the Lucas area raising their two sons.
Paul was a faithful employee at Therm-O-Disc retiring in 2012, after 38 dedicated years as an employee.
Paul had an interest in attending auctions, keeping an eye for the right buy. In his retirement he worked for Whatman Realty & Auctioneers and Remaley Auctioneers assisting their auctioneers. He loved his role as grandpa and proudly supported his grandchildren in their activities.
In his younger years, he enjoyed hunting. Paul loved to read especially classic western and criminal novels.
Paul will be remembered for his dry sense of humor.
Paul is survived by his loving wife Bernadine “Bernie” Griffey; two sons Shane (Susan) Griffey and Chad (Tami) Griffey; 6 grandchildren Wyatt, Emma, Will, Katie, Faith, and Paul; brother Jim (Rachel) Kanable; cousin Carol “Dolly” Bloodheart; close friends Randy Renz and Jerry Duncan.
He was preceded in death by his parents Sarah and Robert Kanable; sister Sue (Raymond) Egten.
The Griffey family will receive friends Wednesday, November 26, 2025 from 10 am – 12 pm in the Lexington Avenue Snyder Funeral Home where his funeral will begin at 12 noon. Pastor Michael Stine will officiate. Burial will follow in Little Washington Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the James Cancer Hospital.
