Robert B. Shankle, age 62, of Galion passed away Tuesday November 18, 2025 at his home.
Born June 16, 1963 in Galion, he was the son of the late David and Judith (Mauthe) Shankle.
Rob was a 1981 graduate of Galion High School and received his Bachelor’s Degree from the Ohio State University. He taught at Northmor Schools and was a football and wrestling coach at Galion Schools. He enjoyed motorcycles and would often be seen riding around the area on his scooter. He enjoyed hiking and nature as well as woodworking. He was a voracious reader and enjoyed writing poetry. He was outgoing and friendly and enjoyed talking with people.
He is survived by his son Trebor Shankle, daughter, Kelsey (Timothy Grix) Shankle, sister Audrey Wade, stepson James Johnson, niece Kristina Wade and nephew Aaron Shankle.
In addition to his parents he was preceded by his wife Cynthia Strader and his brother David K. Shankle.
The family will have a private memorial gathering near the Cowanshannock River at a later date.
