Irene Marie Dewalt, age 85, passed away on Monday, November 17, 2025 at Chillicothe Post Acute Nursing Home. Irene was born on September 21, 1940 in Galion, Ohio to the late Ralph Riddlebaugh and Mary Alice Hill McCaffity.
Irene, who has lovingly nicknamed, “Punk”, loved to sew, bake, play bingo and crochet. In her spare time she also loved to go camping with her nieces and nephews over the years. Due to her passion for the craft and her creative ability, Irene served as the family hairdresser for many years. She was very loving and adored her family. Irene was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, beloved aunt and friend to many. Her family described her as the kind of person who would do anything for anyone.
She will be fondly remembered by her husband, Frank Dewalt; her children, Trudy (Karl) Stevens Stitzel, William Stevens and Sondra Stevens; her grandchildren, Cody Grauer, Kyle Grauer, Casey Stevens, Cory Stevens and Miles Borders; her sister, Ilene (Sis) Riddlebaugh Day. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Robert Riddlebaugh, Raymond (Red) Riddlebaugh, Merrel (Gene) Riddlebaugh, Thomas Riddlebaugh, Ruth Riddlebaugh Bashoff, Helen Riddlebaugh Dailey, Betty Riddlebaugh Banks and Maxine Riddlebaugh.
Irene’s family will celebrate her life privately. Burial will take place at a later date in Fairview Cemetery in Galion.
