MANSFIELD — Richland County Transit (RCT) is spreading holiday cheer this season with free special holiday service as a thank-you to riders and the community for their continued support of public transit.

Riders of all ages are invited to hop on board, enjoy fare-free transit, and celebrate the season with their community. During four special dates in November and December all fixed-route bus rides will be free for everyone and Dial A Ride service will be free for eligible riders.

RCT will offer Free Saturday Service including Shop Small Saturday on November 22 and a Holiday Special on Dec. 13. RCT, which does not typically operate on Saturdays, will offer service from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. on those dates, depending on the route.

“In previous years, we offered a couple of free Saturdays in December,” said Jean Taddie, Transit Development Manager. “This year, the RCT Board wanted to highlight our community spirit by aligning service with our local Shop Small day as well.”

Riders can also take advantage of Fare-Free Fridays during regular service hours (6:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.) on Black Friday, November 28, and another Holiday Special on Dec. 19.

RCT will be closed during these holidays: Thanksgiving Day on Nov. 27, Christmas Day on Dec. 25, and New Year’s Day on Jan. 1. In addition, service will end early at 4 p.m. on Christmas Eve, Dec. 24.
