Dorothy Louise Colcott, 81, passed away on Friday, November 14, 2025 at Mill Creek Nursing Home. Dorothy was born to the late John and Martha (Young) Hout on September 11, 1944 in Bucyrus, Ohio.
She graduated from North Robinson and went on to build a long and dedicated career as a Casualty Insurance Agent with Auck Dostal, where she faithfully served for many years until her retirement.
Dorothy married the love of her life, James Colcott, on December 7, 1969. Together they built a beautiful life, sharing 41 cherished years of devotion and companionship before his passing on September 30, 2010.
Her home was always brightened by the presence of her cherished fur babies: Fluffy, Ginger, Tootsie, and Tonya. They were not just pets, but true members of her family, each one bringing their own personality and comfort into her life. She cared for them deeply, and they returned that love tenfold.
In her younger years, Dorothy and her husband spent countless days exploring new places together, traveling near and far with a sense of adventure that defined much of their early life. Those journeys created memories they treasured-stories of quiet roads, unexpected detours, and the simple joy of being side by side.
Left to cherish Dorothy’s memory is her sister, Ruth Ann Karl, and her nephew, Doug Karl.
Along with her parents and James, she is preceded in death by her brothers, Wayne Hout and John Hout Jr.
Friends may call on Tuesday, November 18, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Gompf Funeral Service – Crestline Chapel, 223 W. Main Street, Crestline. Service will immediately follow at 11:00 AM with Pastor Diane Thomas officiating. Burial to follow at OakWood Cemetery in Bucyrus, Ohio.
