MANSFIELD — A Mansfield man could be sentenced to up to life behind bars if convicted of raping a juvenile.

Stephen Stoneman, 32, was indicted in June by a Richland County grand jury on one count of rape and two counts of gross sexual imposition.

Teri Burnside, Richland County First Assistant Prosecutor, said Stoneman, if convicted of rape, could be sentenced to life in prison because the case’s alleged victim was under the age of 10.

“That is in the cards,” Burnside said of a possible life sentence.

According to Burnside, the alleged offenses occurred between Sept. 30, 2023, and July 19, 2024.

Two other indictments involve alleged sex crimes

Ian D. Kravitt, 45, was indicted in March on 23 counts of pandering sexually oriented matter involving a minor or impaired person.

He was also indicted on three counts of illegal use of a minor or impaired person in nudity-oriented material or performance.

“In his (Kravitt’s) phone, he had different images of sexually explicit, nude photos of children,” Burnside said.

Kravitt was arrested in October 2024 after an investigation by the Internet Crimes Against Children task force, according to Burnside.

Also indicted recently was Jason Rose, 48, of Mansfield, on charges of rape, gross sexual imposition and unlawful restraint.

Burnside said the alleged offenses occurred in October 2024 and involved a woman.
