Larry Joe Wachter, 87, of Mansfield, passed away on Thursday, October 23, 2025 at Wedgewood Estates.

Larry was born on July 3,1938 in Mansfield, Ohio. He was the son of Joseph and Gertrude (Rinker) Wachter. He married Louise “Lou” Schooley on September 5, 1959 and she preceded him in death on August 2, 2020. Larry was a 1956 graduate of Madison High School. He retired after dedicating many years as a tool and die maker at The Ohio Brass Company. Larry and Lou volunteered together for years at What Goes ‘Round Thrift Shoppe. They were members of St. Timothy Lutheran Church where he enjoyed sharing his handyman skills whenever needed. Larry found joy in life through taking care of his home, yard, and cars. He was also an avid scuba diver, diving both locally and in Central America. Larry especially loved all of his dogs, the latest being Chance, a golden retriever.

Larry leaves behind his daughters, Lori (Eric) Pierre of Rochester Hills, Michigan and Jodi (Todd) Newberry of Mansfield; his grandchildren, Zachery Pierre, Joshua Pierre, Julia (Zack) Neubeck, and Alex Newberry; his great grandson, Matthew Neubeck; his sister, Linda Cochran of Mansfield who dedicated a great deal of time to caring for her brother after the death of his wife; his brother-in-law, Jack Schooley of Ontario; his nieces and nephews, Jeff (Brianne) Schooley of Bowling Green, Kerry (Dusty) Griffith of Ontario, and Charles (Marie) Cochran of Reynoldsburg. He was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, James Cochran.

The family invites you to attend the graveside service at Mansfield Cemetery on Friday, October 31 to be officiated by Pastor Karl Hanf of Messiah Lutheran Church, Reynoldsburg. A procession will form at 1:00 pm at Herlihy Funeral Home, 173 Park Ave W, Mansfield.
